14 - 16 Mathematics

Please note that Parents and visitors can understand more about the secondary mathematics curriculum by following this link. (The Mathematics department uses the schools google apps environment for much of its organisation)

Students currently study the Cambridge IGCSE since 2015 at both core and extended level

Many of the resources students will use are published here www.teachmathematics.net

The course is defined by learning objectives that we have grouped into modules. Each module has a bank of relevant resources and the class teacher will tailor these to the needs of the class and share them. For these year groups we also make use of course related textbooks to complement our activities. An outline plan for the timing of modules of the two year course is agreed in consultation and regularly reviewed.

Although students in these year groups are streamed, the groups run parallel and should reach the same fixed points through the year. The group with higher attaining students will plan to cover the ideas beyond the level required for IGCSE in preparation for post 16 courses (the IB for those staying at IST). Within the classes the teacher will again take advantage of the student-teacher ratio to guide individuals through the most appropriate path.

The modules and their contents can be seen in this document here. Focus using the filters.
